As part of the Team Water Campaign, created by MrBeast and Mark Rober and globally coordinated by WaterAid, Instituto Alok acts as a local partner to expand access to treated water in high water-vulnerability regions of Brazil through the second phase of its Água de Beber (“Drinking Water”) program. In partnership with the organization Água é Vida (“Water is Life”), the project delivers emergency solutions to indigenous communities in the Legal Amazon.
The initiative involves the installation of 700 household water purification systems across three Special Indigenous Health Districts (DSEIs) — Canarana, Barra do Garças, and São Luís — directly serving 3,500 people, residents of the villages São Benedito, Sete Rios, São Miguel, Tseizah, and Rio Maria of the Xavante community, and the Wawi Hub of the Xingu: Ngotire, Wakatxi, Ngosakatxi, Tyrykhô, and Payetãn (MT). In Maranhão, delivery will be made to 16 villages of the Krenyê, Guajajara, and Ka’apor peoples: Serra Caída, Beira Rio, Anajá, Aracuã, Lagoa do Meio, Capinão, Vila Necilda, Mussum, Krenyê Mangueira, Krenyê Pedra Branca, Krenyê Vitória, Santa Maria, Apolinário, Macauba, Maracaçume, and Inajatyrendá.
The kits, made up of buckets and purification filters, ensure immediate access to safe water in contexts of drought and scarcity.
“We were blessed, because thank God we have water from the village and the school. But most communities in neighboring villages don’t, and the river water is dirty, so they have to come here to quench their thirst. Now, with the filters, they will be able to turn river water into drinking water in their own homes. Thank you very much: water is everything — for cooking, for good farming, and also for making urucum. Water is everything, water is life, water is health.” — Chief Felisberto Tsenerere Rudzane Edi of the Ro’oredza’odzé Village, Xavante people.

In addition to addressing the urgent need, the project has an experimental and educational dimension: the data and assessments generated will support the development of lasting solutions, in dialogue with public bodies and local communities.
“This project is not just about delivering drinking water — it’s about caring for people. In addition to meeting an urgent need, we are learning together with the communities to create permanent solutions. We use a simple app where we record important information about families, such as where they live and where the water they consume comes from. With this data, we can better understand the reality of each territory and build, together with public authorities, pathways to ensure safe water reaches everyone permanently.” — Felipe Martins, ESG Director of Água é Vida.

This action across the 3 DSEIs, supported by Instituto Alok with backing from Team Water and WaterAid, is part of a broader initiative coordinated by Água é Vida called ÁGUA É SAÚDE (Water is Health), with a goal of installing 8,000 household systems across 23 DSEIs in partnership with other organizations (Special Secretariat for Indigenous Health – SESAI, Special Indigenous Health Districts – DSEIs, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, BEMOL, Military Command of the Amazon, IASIS, and Teçá).

About Team Water
Team Water is an international campaign created by YouTubers MrBeast and Mark Rober, as a continuation of the Team Trees and Team Seas projects. The initiative raised over 40 million dollars to bring clean water to millions of people around the world.
Following the success of previous campaigns — which planted 20 million trees and removed 30 million pounds of trash from the oceans — the project launched on August 1, 2025, bringing together more than 3,000 YouTube content creators with a combined audience of 3 billion followers.
The goal was to raise $40 million by the end of August 2025, guaranteeing one year of clean water for every dollar donated. The goal was reached on August 31, 2025, benefiting 2 million people with sustainable access to clean water for many years to come.
