Founded in 2020, the Alok Institute aims to promote a more just, happy, and sustainable way of living. This initiative is one of the life purposes of the artist who is ranked among the world’s top DJs. In 2024, he received two Latin Grammy nominations for his songs: “Pedju Kunumigwe” featuring the indigenous group Nhandewa from the album The Future is Ancestral, and “Drum Machine”, in collaboration with DJ Pickle.
The Alok Institute embodies the same professionalism, authenticity, and motivation for social transformation that Alok demonstrates in his global presence through music, game shows, and social media interactions.
“I hope the Institute helps improve the lives of many people and helps preserve nature, while also inspiring others to participate in building a more just and sustainable society,” says Alok.
Alok has been recognized in Bloomberg Línea’s list of the 500 most influential people in Latin America. He is also one of the largest philanthropists among Brazilian artists. In 2023, Alok was awarded the Comenda da Ordem do Mérito do Judiciário (Grand Officer Degree) by the Superior Labor Court for his social contributions. Additionally, in 2024, he became a member of the Human Rights Observatory of the National Justice Council.
His ongoing interactions with people from diverse generations and social classes deepen his constant commitment to those living in vulnerable situations and those fighting inequality. His sense of responsibility and citizenship led him to the United Nations General Assembly (2022 and 2023), where he presented The Future is Ancestral movement. Alongside indigenous thinkers, Alok has been raising awareness about the urgent need to promote and defend the rights of indigenous peoples to occupy multiple territories in contemporary society. The project was highlighted in the 2022 and 2024 editions of Global Citizen. In 2024, Alok released the album The Future is Ancestral alongside Brazilian indigenous artists from eight different ethnicities.
Before the Alok Institute was formally established, it was common practice to donate performance fees, music royalties, and to engage people and partner brands in social actions (see “The Path of Solidarity” on this website).
Alok Institute’s program GREEN PLANET (Planeta Verde) for biodiversity restoration and protection begins with actions in the amazon region of Brazil.
