The Ancestral Base project brings together Alok Institute and Vini.Jr Institute for innovative education initiatives in two public schools attended by quilombola students: Escola Municipal Professora Lydia Sherman in Búzios (RJ) and Escola Municipal Altina Ana da Conceição in Ituberá (BA).
Centers for Base Educational Technologies (CT Base) will be implemented in both schools, offering training for teachers, creating student access to an educational app, ongoing support and workshops on anti-racist education. The project focuses on teachers and public school students from 1st to 5th grades of Elementary School, aiming at boosting teaching, digital inclusion, racial awareness and contributing to an enriching and inclusive educational environment.
The CT BASE is developed by Vini.Jr Institute and implemented through a threefold methodological approach:
A. Faculty Training
Preparation of school teachers on new technologies, innovative pedagogical policies, movement activities, sports language for education, BNCC, management platforms and app usage. One of the highlighted workshops for teachers and students is the “Anti-Racist Education in Practice”, designed to provide extensive content on ethnic-racial relations education and to prepare the new generation of black children for the effects of racism.
B. Technology
Setup and license for the necessary technology software for project development: the Base App and the Base Database platform. On the Base app homepage, a button with knowledge tracks will be created to address Education for ethnic-racial relations – ERER. This specific knowledge track focuses on ancestry, including issues related to black and indigenous populations, all related to the National Common Curricular Base and Elementary School base content.
C. Infrastructure
Supply and training for the usage of all necessary infrastructure for teachers and students, such as smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, and laptops.
Illustrative photos / Base CT assemblies (yet to be builded) includes a classroom layout with elements associated with football, Vini Jr and Alok’s photos, and images of local references that evoke the origin and culture of selected communities participating in this project. Additionally, the project will gain a new dimension with the introduction of a game character inspired by Alok (as already exists with Vini.Jr), who will come to life when students access the knowledge track on indigenous peoples inside the educational app.

About Vini.Jr Institute
Vini Jr. Institute is a long-standing dream of the Brazilian football player and his family to work with education. Established in 2021 as a non-profit civil society organization, in its first year of existence, the institute exclusively worked on the development and testing of an educational tool capable of supporting teachers in the teaching-learning process, specially on how to capture children’s attention for learning.
We act as facilitators of this process, proposing a pedagogical practice that values each child’s experiences and stories, respecting their individuality and worldview, thus building autonomy for development.
We see technology as a tool and use football to attract children’s attention. But we are certain that nothing is or will be able to replace the importance of teachers in the classroom.
