In 2023, some of Alok’s concert revenues were 100% or partially donated to social and environmental projects.
Amazon Sustainable Foundation (FAS) – Manaus (AM)
With the goal of alleviating the distress of communities and villages affected by one of the worst droughts ever recorded in the Amazonian region (a result of the climate crisis), the Alok Institute made a financial donation to the Amazon Climate Alliance (through FAS – Amazon Sustainable Foundation) to purchase potable water, food and hygiene items. The target group includes traditional peoples and communities living in critically affected areas as well as neighborhoods and peripheral zones in urban Amazonia.
The funds, equivalent to Alok’s performance fee for a show in Manaus on November 1st 2023, enabled the purchase of 330 food baskets for families in the following communities located in the Rio Negro’s Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS): Santo Antônio Tiririca, Nossa Senhora de Fátima, 15 de setembro, Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro, São Francisco do Bujaru.

“It’s heartbreaking to see a place globally recognized as the paradise of waters now having its fish dying, rivers at extremely low levels, boats stranded, and children and adults experiencing privations. Therefore, my desire is to contribute to the improvement of riverine communities in the Amazon, which have been suffering from the drought. The climate crisis is a serious issue, and we all must act in an attempt to find solutions, each in our capacity, but everyone. In some way, my art can go beyond entertainment and fulfill a social function,” says Alok.
According to Victor Salviati, Superintendent of Innovation and Institutional Development, “this is the picture of climate injustice: those who contributed least to global warming are the ones who suffer the most. Alok’s support joins an active solidarity network to ensure food, hygiene items, and water for the population experiencing the impacts of drought in this challenging time.”
