The Journey of Care project is an initiative by Instituto Benfazer (IBEN), supported by the Instituto Alok, aimed at strengthening the assistance, educational, and sports services provided to 80 individuals—children, youth, and the elderly—living in at-risk areas in the metropolitan region of Manaus.
The Journey of Care encompasses three initiatives that together create an ecosystem of attention and community connection:
Forming Warriors:
Weekly jiu-jitsu classes for 40 children and adolescents aged 10 to 17, focusing on body expression, social protection, and self-esteem strengthening. Activities are conducted by a social counselor and instructor, with snacks provided during the sessions.
Active Life 60+:
In this initiative, 40 elderly individuals will participate in physical activity sessions, workshops for interactive and cognitive games, and social gatherings. The goal is to prevent isolation and promote holistic health. Activities will be led by a physiotherapist and will include snacks.Food Security Fund:
This fund assists families in the project who reside in food-insecure and at-risk areas by distributing around 200 basic food baskets.

The partnership includes:
- Hiring of technical staff: social counselor, physiotherapist, social worker, and jiu-jitsu instructor
- Purchase of sports materials and equipment for workshops (cognitive games, balls, mats, and fitness gear)
- Implementation of assessment tools for participants, ensuring monitoring and effectiveness of the actions
By addressing various life stages, the Journey of Care reinforces the commitment of Alok Institute and IBEN to a socially integrated approach that responds to the needs of the local community and is dedicated to collective transformation.
