The Alok Institute and the Entrepreneurship Center of the Amazon collaborate to support young people and adults in the enormous difficulties of undertaking and obtaining income and occupation in the Amazon.
Despite the demographic bonus, there is a huge dismay among the youth, forming the conjunction of “neither-nor”: neither work nor education. This is a paradox considering the enormous natural wealth of the region.
The Papo Reto – Oportunidades da Amazônia project aims to show young people – in a direct, simple and playful way – the riches that the Amazon forest has and its potential for the development of a sustainable businesses based on natural resources.
Papo Reto, supported by the Alok Institute, understands the creation of weekly educational video pills disseminated on social networks and monthly lives on the Center’s YouTube channel. The content concerns research related to a product or service from natural resources that can become a business for young entrepreneurs.
The project lasts two years and aims to reach at least 20,000 followers on social networks (initially with 2,000 followers, now 15,000) and to attract young entrepreneurs to the sustainable business notices that the Center conducts every year. To achieve this goal, the team will mobilize networks of environmental and entrepreneurship support entities to disseminate the programs.
The educational videos contributed to attracting 3.800 students to in-person courses.
