Since 2020, we have supported the dissemination and donation of resources for solidarity campaigns in circumstances of natural disasters, the Covid-19 pandemic, combating hunger, and for a more dignified Christmas. We have also donated to individuals in undignified housing conditions and in cases of rare diseases and severe accidents. (We keep these donations anonymous out of respect for the individuals involved).

SOS Rio Grande do Sul
In late April and early May of 2024, over 90% of cities in Rio Grande do Sul were affected by severe flooding caused by heavy rains. In response, the Alok Institute mobilized partner companies for a collective action to assist the thousands of victims in the state. The effort included the delivery of approximately 1 million tons of supplies, including food, animal feed, cleaning and personal hygiene products, deep cleaning equipment, mattresses, and blankets.
To manage and distribute the donations, we partnered with CUFA – Central Única das Favelas and Ação da Cidadania.

Wildfires Suppression
In September 2024, wildfires in Brazil devastated 11.39 million hectares of land, according to Mapbiomas data. The state of Pará recorded the highest number of fires, and across the country, the work of firefighters and volunteers once again demonstrated its essential, perilous, and courageous nature.
The Alok Institute supported the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) for 12 new volunteers of the Alter do Chão Forest Brigade, who were selected through the brigade’s training course in 2024, in partnership with ICMBio. In addition, the Institute raised awareness and called for donations to support fire brigades across the country.
The firefighting safety kits provided include: shirt, pants, glasses, balaclava, canteen, belt, flashlight, helmet, and boots.

In the winter of 2024, we facilitated the purchase of blankets for the indigenous Xokleng people in the Figueira Village, near the municipality of José Boiteux in Santa Catarina, Brazil.
The village is home to 150 families, including 65 women (most of whom are heads of their households) and 70 children under the age of 10, who were the most affected by the low temperatures, which dropped as low as 1ºC.
This support was provided through the Zág Institute, an organization led by young Indigenous people.
