Romana Novais is the co-founder of the Alok Institute and a Medical Doctor specialized in Trichology (hair health). At the Institute, Romana guides women’s health initiatives – such as the “Luz na Saúde” project, which took place in 2023 in Rio de Janeiro and 2024 in São Paulo, providing care to women for gynecological attention and children with dental procedures, helping reduce the waiting list for the Public Healthcare System, in addition to projects focused on childhood and healthy eating.
As a doctor, she worked providing care in the SUS (Unified Public Health System) at a unit in Santo André – SP. “I am extremely grateful for the choice I made to live this experience in SUS. These were days of learning and fulfillment. I was able to help many people and contribute in some way to public health in our country,” she says. “It was through this experience that I felt a desire to continue doing more. Alok and I always ask ourselves how we can build a better, more egalitarian world, and we believe that the first step is through our actions, whether it’s raising our children or through initiatives at the Institute, but everything has the goal of contributing to a more egalitarian society,” she says.
Her experience in the health field, combined with her training in Medicine and with her determination to contribute to significant changes in people’s lives, provides the Institute with a comprehensive and sensitive vision of public health issues.
She created and directs the Romana Clinic (SP).
Alok Institute’s program GREEN PLANET (Planeta Verde) for biodiversity restoration and protection begins with actions in the amazon region of Brazil.
